Why I Started Running? A Wake-Up Call and a New Passion!

A little over a year ago, I made a decision that changed my life in more ways than I could have imagined. I signed up for the Sydney Marathon—with zero training. Let me tell you, dragging myself around Sydney for over 5 hours was the wake-up call I needed. I used to think I could easily finish in under 4 hours, but my cardiovascular fitness had clearly taken a dive. That experience was humbling, to say the least.

Working as a rehab professional with long hours (7 AM to 8:30 PM Monday through Friday, plus half-days on the weekend), finding time for fitness wasn’t easy. I needed something accessible, something I could fit into my packed schedule. What’s more accessible than running? I literally roll out of bed, lace up my shoes, and run out the door before work. No fancy equipment, no gym hours—just me and the pavement.

Over the past year, running has given me more than I ever expected. Sure, I’ve lost weight without giving up the foods I love (because let's be real, I’m not sacrificing pizza). But more importantly, I’ve found a new passion. Running has become a part of my routine, a source of energy, and yes, an excuse to buy way too many shoes I probably don’t need.

What’s been even more rewarding is helping others reach their running goals. Whether it’s their first 10K, a half marathon, City to Surf, or even a full marathon, seeing others succeed has fueled my passion even more.

Now, I’m on a mission to help more people start their own running journey. If you’re ready to take that first step, I’d love to chat! Book a discovery call, and let’s see how I can help you achieve your goals.
